Footnotes
SOVEREIGNTY clipped a rival's hind heels and bobbled slightly soon after the start, settled towards the rear in the two path, bumped with an outer rival while in the five path entering the far turn, progressed five to six wide while following JOURNALISM's advance turning for home, ranged up to bid outside of that one in upper stretch, dueled into the final sixteenth and edged clear. JOURNALISM bumped with an outer foe leaving the gate before being put in tight at the start when CITIZEN BULL veered out stacking up a number of runners to his outside, leveled into stride toward the inside through the first turn, shifted out inside the five-eighths pole, commenced a swift attack picking off runs rapidly through the second turn, came five wide and poked his head in front inside the three-sixteenths pole, battled on but was unable to resist the winner in the final yards. BAEZA settled off of the pace four to three wide, inched forward between horses with a half mile to go, but bumped with an inner foe then an outer rival while steadying at the five sixteenths pole, spun for home in the five path, rallied while drifting out to the nine path in midstretch, yet sustained his charge in the late stages to miss reaching place. FINAL GAMBIT was squeezed and steadied hard at the start, lagged at the tail of the field, launched a sweeping move seven wide, was fanned out ten wide entering the stretch, fought on doggedly and was making up ground. OWEN ALMIGHTY grazed the outer stall door upon leaving the gate, pressed close up three wide, ranged up under urging to bid outside of the leader entering the lane, gained an advantage before a pair of outer rivals took aim in upper stretch but got outkicked by them in upper stretch and yielded. BURNHAM SQUARE bumped with an inner foe at the start, settled in hand, tucked in to save ground within striking distance, was put in tight when ADMIRE DAYTONA came in near the half mile marker, was bumped and checked, losing position, settled back into stride readily, altered out and weaved through traffic willingly on the second turn and through the lane. SANDMAN brushed with an outer rival soon after the start before rating well back in the three path, bumped with an inner rival while pursuing in the six path into the far turn, took that bend six deep before swinging to the nine path into the lane, got outkicked by an outer foe in upper stretch then moved up. EAST AVENUE exchanged light contact with an inner rival leaving the gate, stalked three wide, chased down the backstretch, then gave way while being brushed between rivals turning for home. CHUNK OF GOLD had his hind heels clipped by a trailing rival shorty after the start, recovered to pursue from midpack three to two wide around the first turn, crept closer with a half mile to go to track around the far turn, but only managed to chase between rivals into upper stretch and lacked a bid. TIZTASTIC brushed with rivals on both sides soon after the start, was void of speed along the inside, came under coaxing with nine sixteenths to go, pursued between horses into the lane, ran on in upper stretch, but steadied when blocked behind rivals entering the final furlong and failed to menace. COAL BATTLE required a shoe repair in the paddock, was bumped by an inner rival at the start, recovered to pursue from midpack four to three wide around the first turn, chased while getting outmoved by outer foes around the far turn, but steadied when put in tight quarters between horses in the five path at the five sixteenths pole, moved to the seven path spinning into the lane and lacked a bid. LUXOR CAFE hopped at the start to get away a step slow, angled in to save ground, was put in tight and steadied nearing the furlong marker for the first time, settled between rivals, worked his way forward into the second turn, boxed on in traffic bumping with BAEZA with five-sixteenths to run, split rivals entering the stretch but weakened in the final furlong. NEOEQUOS was bumped and forced out at the start, contested the pace outside, edged clear on the second turn, was headed entering the stretch and gave in. PUBLISHER was off a beat slow before grazing with an outer rival shortly thereafter, bumped with an inner rival and steadied back after a furlong, settled off of the pace two wide and among foes around the first turn, took the far turn in the four path and failed to factor. CITIZEN BULL broke out severely stacking up five runners to his outside, disputed the pace toward the inside, relinquished the lead into the second turn and retreated. AMERICAN PROMISE was bumped at the start, tracked along the inside, made an early move and jammed between horses to vie for the lead but came up empty on the second turn and dropped out. RENDER JUDGMENT leaned out and bumped a rival at the start, raced off of the pace three wide and was done early. FLYING MOHAWK was jostled between horses early, settled in the second flight and was never a factor. ADMIRE DAYTONA (JPN) was put in tight at the start, recovered quickly and contended between horses on the backstretch, angled in after the half mile marker, bumping BURNHAM SQUARE, came up empty thereafter and faded fast. WINNING PICK 6 NUMBERS 3/4/7-7-7/8/16/17/18-2-5/10/11-18. WINNING PICK 5 NUMBERS 7-7/8/16/17/18-2-5/10/11-18.
