BACKGROUND took contact from an outer rival at the start, set the pace inside of a prompting rival, vied with that one around the turn, got headed in upper stretch, took a brush in midstretch yet battled gamely to sustain the long duel through the final furlong and narrowly prevailed. FORT WARREN brushed an inner rival leaving the gate, prompted two wide, vied around the turn, wrestled a narrow advantage in upper stretch, shifted in and brushed his counterpart in midstretch, battled gamely through the final furlong as the duel continued but missed at the wire. WENT WEST stalked along the inside, shifted outside of the top pair in midstretch and chased willingly. PRESIDENT Z chased in the three path, floated wider in upper stretch and tired.
