Footnotes
LURE HIM IN , up close down the backstretch, remained prominent in the three path around the turn, rallied outside, drifted out inside the eighth pole, gained the lead inside the sixteenth pole, drew clear and switched to his left lead nearing the finish. ELOQUIST stalked the pace, hugged the inner rail throughout, had room inside horses in the stretch drive and was up at the wire for the place position. JUST CALL RAY made the early lead, was kept in the two path down the backstretch and around the turn, was still in front in mid stretch, drifted out near the eighth pole and gave way grudgingly. TWO EAGLES RIVER , in striking position down the backstretch, raced in the four path between horses on the turn, was taken to the two path entering the stretch and gave way. SHARP TONES , outside horses down the backstretch, chased the pace five deep around the turn and weakened through the stretch.
