Footnotes
STARLIFTER was settled early and advanced on the outside beginning the second circuit and stalked the leader three wide, made a bid to gain a short lead before being engaged by IN EFFECT to duel to the inside of that rival, fell behind by a half a length nearing the furlong marker but battled back on the inside and won the head bob to prevail under a drive. IN EFFECT was well rated on the first circuit, moved out to make an outside bid on the far turn to gain a short lead nearing the furlong marker, then was re-engaged to duel for command the final sixteenth but lost the head bob to just miss. ARTURO TOSCANINI (IRE) was hard held on the inside while keen on the first circuit, then tracked the leaders and was shuffled back on the far turn, moved off the inside to be two wide leaving the turn and came again for the show award. NATHAN DETROIT was reserved early and in between rivals, made a four wide bid on the far turn and moved to the inside in the lane but flattened out. BRITISH ROYALTY was allowed to settle early and lacked a serious rally. REJECTION HURTS was settled along the inside and had no rally. GASTON set the pace for the first circuit and then vied for command over the ninth jump and then gave way on the far turn. SPEAK UNITY was settled back early to trail and then stumbled over the ninth fence and never factored. WALKER'S GAP was reserved early and tired badly.
