FIRST INFANTRY fanned three wide in close quarters through the first turn, pressed the pace down the backstretch, drifted slightly at the top of the lane, and was kept to task through the drive. DAUNTLESS DARYL broke inward leaving, lost ground approaching the opening turn, trailed the field and closed gamely last to score a second-place finish. RIVER ROCK FIRE was four wide leaving the frontside, tracked just off the pace, loomed up turning for home but lacked the needed late kick. SCHMUGLEY late mild bid. DREAMS IN THE SKY vied inside for the early lead, was unable to move on with rivals into the far turn and gave way in the stretch. ATTHEBARGETNTIPSY hustled into the first turn while in tight quarters, and had nothing left in reserve late.
