KAUAI DAN bumped at the break, settled just off the pace three wide, swept four wide into the final turn, and finished with a strong late surge to get up narrowly in a tight four-way battle to the wire. PATRIOTIC FREEDOM emerged with the lead into the backstretch, faced a challenge from HANK OLLIE leaving the backstretch, battled gamely through the lane, and was outfinished in a multi-horse scramble to the wire. PUTTINGONTHEFOIL tracked the pace along the rail, slipped through a narrow opening at the head of the lane, took a slim lead, but was caught right at the wire. GUNFIGHTER off slowly and trailed early, made up ground leaving the backstretch, launched a five-wide bid on the final turn, and finished strongly in a tight finish to the wire. HANK OLLIE prompted the early pace under a snug hold, moved up alongside PATRIOTIC FREEDOM to prompt action in the far turn, and lacked a closing response. BRINGER OF RAIN lacked a solid bid. WE THE FRINGE offered little. ARUNDEL CASTLE broke awkwardly, bumped into KAUAI DAN, stumbled at the start, and was never able to regain footing in the race.
