Footnotes
KARDINAL ROSE hustled from the start, gained the lead on the first turn, then led the field down the backstretch into the far turn, weakened a bit in deep stretch but was kept to task under steady handling and urging and held on. TONE IT UP raced with the trio at the back through the early stages, saved ground,+ and finished up well in the stretch to gain the place. WE THE FRINGE showed good speed from the start but ceded the front to KARDINAL ROSE, tracked behind that one down the backstretch, never far back, responded when asked to go after that rival late on the turn, but proved on match, weakened late and was passed for the second spot. MATURITY DATE went four wide into the first turn, then sat off the pace to the outside of WE THE FRINGE for the first half mile, was sent along to press for the lead heading into the far turn, but did not quicken with the others and finished evenly well behind the top three. OOPS AND DOWNS was allowed to settle at the back, went four wide through the clubhouse turn, did not respond when asked to quicken on the far turn and had nothing left for the stretch run. AWESOME TAYLOR raced between horses at the rear, dropped back to last after a half-mile, and was outrun the rest of the way.
