HARD DIAMOND broke well and was inside of four contesting the early lead, took command near the three-furlong pole and went clear late on the turn, responded when roused in upper stretch and steadily increased the winning margin to the wire. DETERMINED FREEDOM raced two deep, contesting the early pace, was the only one to chase the eventual winner when that one broke away from the pack, was no match for that rival, but kept on well to take second by a clear margin to the next finisher. TIME 'N TIME AGAIN was outpaced early, then under a ride to maintain position, advanced late on the turn to gain contention, and finished up with some interest to gain a minor award. OAK BAY QUALITY broke well, was briefly close up then shuffled back to mid-pack, lost position on the turn, then ran on some in the stretch and improved a bit in the late stages. CAPE'S LEGACY tracked in mid-pack to the turn, swung four wide into the stretch, but lacked a finishing kick. SAWCHUK raced three to four wide well off the pace and lacked a finish. NOW AND ZEN void of speed, chased from the rear, went five-wide at the top of the stretch, and was unable to improve. HARBOR DANCER pressed the early pace four-wide down the backstretch, kept up the chase when HARD DIAMOND separated from the field, then stopped in the stretch. EH TEE EM was off slow, then the distant trailer to the far turn and was never a factor. BUCK SPRINGS broke well and was three-deep as part of the early scramble for the lead, weakened on the turn, then stopped to a walk in the stretch.
