FORMIDABLE MAN stalked the pacesetter from inside, drafted behind the leader up the backstretch and far turn, gained a clear opening when CABO SPIRIT came off the rail approaching the stretch, challenged the top pair with a furlong furlong, drifted out while dueling with CABO SPIRIT into deep stretch and proved best late. CABO SPIRIT stepped to the front and controlled the pace through the early stages, took pressure from BALLADEER at the seven-sixteenths pole, moved inched ahead with three furlongs left to run, came under threat from BALNIKHOV (IRE) at the quarter pole, drifted out while maintaining a short advantage over rivals on both sides entering the final furlong, continued to drift while dueling with FORMIDABLE MAN into the last sixteenth and yielded grudgingly to the winner. STAY HOT had to pause behind CABO SPIRIT shortly after the start, tracked the speed from the two path, crept closer in the middle stages, chased two then three wide around the far turn, entered the lane three deep and got up for third. BALNIKHOV (IRE) trailed on the inside in the early going, moved off the rail and into range on the backstretch, bid three wide around the far turn, got floated out by CABO SPIRIT in the lane and flattened out in deep stretch. DICEY MO CHARA (GB) settled next to the fence, fell off the pace on the first turn, moved into striking distance in-hand in the middle stages, trailed around the far turn while continuing to save ground, moved out in the lane and lacked further response. BALLADEER pulled while racing up close two wide early, continued to tug the rider along up the backstretch, applied pressure to CABO SPIRIT at the seven-sixteenths pole, could not keep up with the leader into the far turn, chased two wide to the stretch and weakened.
