Footnotes
HAWKER was urged from the start, made the lead but soon found pressure by an outside rival, sped through fast opening fractions, edged clear late up the backstretch, was further in front turning into upper stretch, drifted out in the stretch but held sway while being kept to the task. SPEARFISH hopped and bumped at the start, raced outside mostly three to four wide through both turns making a steady advance on the far bend, continued to gain in the stretch to just get up for place. MONGOLIAN ALTAI settled outside a rival in the second flight racing two to three wide, advanced on the far turn moving outside a tiring rival, came in a bit in the stretch, kept on evenly, lost place late. THE SHILLELAGH tucked in settling off the leading pair inside a rival, saved ground through both turns advancing inside a foe on the far bend, failed to rally in the stretch. MIGHTY KAI unhurriedly brought up the rear, switched out to move outside a tiring rival late on the far turn, came three wide into stretch, needed more. STANDARD OF PROOF settled off the pace inside, saved ground both turns, was one-paced. BID ON THE PRIZE bumped a rival at the start, was between rivals early, dropped back toward the rear outside runners, swung four wide into upper stretch, failed to rally. MEEKING accompanied rival thru sizzling early fractions, lost contact with pacesetter into and around last turn, gave way and faded.
