FINAL BOSS was closest in pursuit on the inside, crept closer on the backstretch, reeled in the leader while moving to the two path on the far turn, took over at the top of the lane, carried a short lead into the final sixteenth and edged clear. ASTRONOMER got bumped on both sides leaving the gate, settled inside, drew closer but had to wait behind rivals through the far turn, lacked room when boxed in upper stretch, gained a clear path and was given his cue outside the eighth pole, finished well from inside and gained second. GOLD PHOENIX (IRE) traveled next to the fence near the back of the field, moved out on the backstretch, rounded the far turn two, three, then four wide, rallied down the lane and missed second. AIR FORCE RED bumped with inner rival at the start, steered to the inside racing in mid-pack, drew closer two then three wide on the far turn, challenged three deep entering the lane, fought to the sixteenth pole and flattened late. ST ANTHONY traveled outside a rival well off the pace, moved inside leaving the backstretch, steered out in the lane and finished evenly late. SCOOBIE QUANDO saved ground to the stretch, angled out at the top of the lane and needed to find more. IL BELLATOR bumped with ASTRONOMER and stumbled at the start, trailed three then two wide early, chased outside a rival at the back on the far turn, moved out in the lane and failed to menace. BEYOND BRILLIANT sprinted clear and steered to the inside, opened up into the backstretch, held a rapidly diminishing lead approaching the quarter pole, clung to a narrow advantage turning for home, yielded shortly after and folded.
