CONDUCTED took a bump from outside leaving the gate, went up to take control from inside, showed the way unchallenged to the far turn, took pressure from PROTON with a quarter mile remaining, turned that rival away in upper stretch and remained clear under urging to the wire. PROTON pulled in hand early then stalked in the two path or outside a rival, drew alongside CONDUCTED at the quarter pole, was turned away in upper stretch and stayed on well to secure second. PLUTARCH reserved along the inside, angled out and bumped late on the far turn, exchanged bumps with DR. AGNE midstretch, then shifted out and bumped that rival at the wire while edging DR. AGNE for third. DR. AGNE laid off the pace in the two path, got floated out and bumped by PLUTARCH late on the far turn, bumped a couple times with PLUTARCH past the eighth pole, chased willingly into deep stretch and took one final bump while getting edged by PLUTARCH for the show honors on the line. CARO BUONO (FR) tucked inside at the back of the pack, passed a tired rival still next to the fence on the far turn, angled out and tried to split rivals but lacked room and bumped midstretch and could not regain momentum in the late stages. MIGO stalked the speed next to the rail or inside a rival, coaxed along still saving ground on the far turn, asked right-handed entering the lane and weakened in the final furlong. ITZA LOCK broke in and bumped the winner, settled inside, moved into range approaching the far turn, moved into the two path, brushed with CARO BUONO (FR) midstretch and weakened. ITALIO tracked two wide in the early going, raced outside a rival off the pace up the backstretch, dropped back three then two wide on the far turn and had little left for the drive. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING SEVERAL RIVALS IN THE STRETCH RUN. FIRST, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT CARO BUONO (FR) CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS BY GOING THROUGH A TIGHT SPOT WITHOUT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AND NO ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN. THE STEWARDS ALSO LOOKED AT BUMPING BETWEEN PLUTARCH AND DR. AGNE LATE IN THE RACE AND RULED THAT SINCE THE CONTACT OCCURRED AT THE WIRE THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
