Footnotes
HENRI MATISSE (IRE) broke step slow, traveled outside a rival near the back, coaxed along three deep on the backstretch, moved out four wide on the far turn, rallied under strong handling, fought with IRON MAN CAL in the final fifty yards and dug in gamely to prevail. IRON MAN CAL stalked in the two path, ridden along the rail then two leaving the bend, tipped out in upper stretch, rallied and drew alongside the leader inside the sixteenth pole but got outclosed by the winner in the end. AOMORI CITY (FR) broke through the gate, caught by the outrider, brought back around and reloaded, moved inside trailing the field, went outside a rival past the half-mile pole, angled four wide around the far turn, moved out further in the lane, came with a late rush outside the top pair but ran out of ground. NEW CENTURY (GB) reserved two then three wide early, crept closer in hand on the backstretch, chased two then three wide on the second bend as well, bumped with AL QUDRA (IRE) at the eighth pole and kept on willingly for a minor award. DREAM ON controlled the pace from inside through the early stages, roused entering the lane, remained clear in the final sixteenth but yielded to rivals late. NOBLE CONFESSOR unhurried in the beginning and steered to the rail, continued to save ground through the far turn, moved off the fence in upper stretch and offered a mild rally. ZULU KINGDOM (IRE) raced up close in the two path, stalked between rivals on the backstretch, remained two wide to the stretch, was closest in pursuit of the leader with a furlong left to run, had the rider lose the crop approaching the sixteenth pole and weakened in deep stretch. AL QUDRA (IRE) got crowded leaving the gate, chased keenly prior to the clubhouse turn, traveled in the two path around the bend, tugged the rider along early on the backstretch, tipped three wide past the quarter pole, tried to split foes near the eighth pole but bumped both rivals, then clipped heels and had the rider lose his right iron, was able to regain a footing late but had lost all momentum. SATONO CARNAVAL (JPN) stalked the pacesetter along the rail, came under a ride on the far turn still on the fence inside rivals, put to left handed urging in upper stretch, switched to the right hand for the final furlong only to weaken under urging. SEAGULLS ELEVEN (IRE) broke a step slow, raced in range outside a pair of rivals, traveled four then three deep around the far turn, got clipped from behind at the eighth pole and was not persevered with late. THE WACO KID (IRE) steered to the inside while settling towards the rear, trailed under a ride into the stretch and failed to make an impact. MENTEE forwardly placed in the three path around the first turn, chased outside a rival then three deep on the backstretch, dropped back between foes around the far turn and tired down the lane. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE INCIDENT IN THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN NEW CENTURY (GB) AND AL QUDRA (IRE). FOLLOWING A REVIEW THE STEWARDS RULED THAT AL QUDRA DID NOT HAVE A CLEAR PATH TO MAKE A RUN THROUGH AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
