Footnotes
FOREVER YOUNG (JPN) hit the gate at the start, was forwardly placed between runners then outside a rival early, went up to challenge for command between foes on the backstretch, carried a short advantage into the far turn, held a short lead over outer rivals past the five-sixteenths pole, drew clear at the top of the lane, remained clear into deep stretch, then came under threat from SIERRA LEONE late and held gamely. SIERRA LEONE trailed early and steered to the inside, drew closer and went between rivals in the middle stages, rounded the far turn three then four wide, rallied into deep stretch from outside, drew alongside FOREVER YOUNG (JPN) late but ran out of ground. FIERCENESS took a stalking position on the inside, went two wide into the far turn, angled back to the rail late on the bend, moved off the fence with a furlong remaining, finished willingly in deep stretch but failed to summon the needed late kick. JOURNALISM settled outside a rival then between foes on the first turn, raced close up outside FIERCENESS leaving the backstretch, bid four then three deep around the far turn, could not kick on with FOREVER YOUNG (JPN) at the top of the lane and flattened out in the furlong grounds. MINDFRAME stalked three deep into the first turn, moved up to challenge for the lead three deep in the middle stages, fought three then two wide between rivals on the far turn, lost touch with the winner coming into the stretch and weakened in the final furlong. BAEZA hopped and brushed the gate at the start, traveled near the back off the rail, went three then two wide around the clubhouse turn, moved out four deep on the backstretch, gained five then four wide on the far turn but flattened out in the stretch. NEVADA BEACH tracked the speed from inside, moved off the rail on the backstretch, had to pause behind rivals past the three-eighths pole, came under a ride after, went three wide into the lane and lacked a rally. ANTIQUARIAN settled off the pace four then three wide on the clubhouse turn, fell back to last past the half-mile pole, continued wide into the far turn, angled in a few paths around the bend, tired and eased in the lane and walked off. CONTRARY THINKING sprinted to the front and moved inside, confronted by a pair of rivals on the backstretch, yielded past the three-eighths pole and dropped back around the far turn, eased in the lane and walked off.
