STAKES Royal Palm Juvenile S. Black Type - Thoroughbred
TWO YEAR OLDS. Free nomination by Sunday, April 27. $1,000 to enter. A $100 supplemental nomination fee may be made at time of entry. After payment of 1% to all owners of horses finishing seventh through last, 50% of the remaining purse shall be paid to t he owner of the winner, 22% to second, 12% to third, 8% to fourth, 5% to fifth and 3% to sixth. *(Winner will receive a $25,000 equine travel stipend from the United States to England and an automatic entry into one of the Royal Ascot's six two-year-old s takes races). Weight: 121 lbs. Maidens allowed 3 lbs. Starters to be named by usual time of closing. All fees shall be paid prior to the start of the race. Preference will be given to stakes placed, then to winners of non-claiming races, then to horses th at have finished second in maiden allowance races, then to highest earners (earnings under $1,000 not considered in preferences). If race overfills trainers will be limited to two entrants in body of race. (If deemed inadvisable to run this race over thet urf course, it will be run on the Tapeta Course at Five Furlongs).

SANDAL'S SONG hopped up leaving the gate, recovered to track the leader on the inside up the backstretch, came around the turn in the three path, began a bid entering the stretch and dueled to the wire to edge clear late. SQUIRE dueled on the outside early, continued to battle from the two path around the turn, dug in in upper stretch and was caught late, chasing on the wire, the best of the rest. ARKADELPHIA raced in the middle of the pack on the outside up the backstretch, navigated the turn from the three path and improved position in the lane. BEERS ON ME dueled on the inside through the opening quarter, continued to battle while saving ground around the turn and weakened in the final furlong. CHASING MY DREAM chased the leader on the outside up the backstretch, swung out to the four path coming around the turn and faded in the lane. WIN N JUICE trailed the field through the early going, saved ground around the turn and showed no kick. I THINK I CAN (IRE) bumped with the horse to his outside leaving the gate, raced off the pace up the backstretch, continued around the bend in the two path and made no bid. CADENCED hit the gate and bumped with the horse to his inside at the start, settled at the back of the pack through the opening stages, came around the turn in the two path and was empty in the stretch.
