VENEZUELAN HOPE settled in the second flight, loomed four wide into the second turn, vied for the lead with VOLATILE STORM into upper stretch then dueled that rival to the final sixteenth, poked a head in front in deep stretch and determinedly kept to task in the final strides. VOLATILE STORM tracked the early pace from the inside, shifted out and was roused three wide at the quarter pole, vied for the lead into upper stretch then dueled on even terms with VENEZUELAN HOPE into the final sixteenth, was bested in deep stretch and held well late for the place. MAKTUB unhurried in the early stages, advanced outside of rivals into the far turn, was briefly held up in traffic at the quarter pole then split rivals three wide into upper stretch, closed willingly in the late stages, could not reel in the leaders late and was well clear for third. CRYPTONYM allowed to settle, made a steady advance along the backstretch then was caught in traffic approaching the far turn, found room into upper stretch then was outkicked into the final sixteenth. BAD OBSESSION allowed to settle early on while never far back, raced in traffic while boxed in nearing the quarter marker, angled four wide for the drive then did not rally in the final furlong. RENEGE allowed to settle early on, advanced three then four wide nearing the quarter marker, spun six wide into upper stretch then flattened out in the drive. SPIT THE BIT tracked four wide to the second turn, chased five wide into upper stretch, lacked a response into the final furlong and weakened. DUNES OF GOLD set a prompted pace to the half-mile marker, showed the way while under pressure nearing the quarter pole, was overtaken into upper stretch and tired in the late stages. LAST RUN prompted the moderate early pace, kept close attendance into the second turn, lost position into upper stretch then gave way in the drive. NO END tracked the early pace two to three wide and from between runners, dropped back along the second turn then came up empty in the stretch.
