SAPPHIRE GIRL rated nicely off of the solid early pace, saved ground to the far turn then angled three wide nearing the quarter marker, roused four wide to upper stretch, closed determinedly into the final furlong, wore down the runner-up in deep stretch and held in the final strides to prevail. POR VOCE hustled to be forwardly placed away from the start, tracked the solid pace two then three wide up the backstretch, bid into the second turn and vied for the lead at the quarter pole, took command into upper stretch, led into the final furlong then dug in into the final sixteenth, was outfinished in deep stretch and held for second at the wire. STARSHIP ELATION unhurried in the early going, saved ground to the far turn and advanced nearing the quarter marker, swung four then five wide for the stretch drive and rallied to the final sixteenth, sustained her bid to the final sixteenth then just missed for second at the wire, while clear of the rest for third. STARSHIP BELLA away in good order, was forwardly placed in the early stages and saved ground into the first turn, tracked the solid pace from the inside heading to the half-mile point, chased to the quarter marker then tipped out for the stretch drive, could not find more into the final sixteenth and was outkicked in deep stretch. SONJA HENIE broke alertly and was sent for the early lead, set a solid pace into the backstretch run, showed the way to the far turn then came under pressure nearing the quarter marker, battled to upper stretch, could not keep pace into the final furlong and faded late. CURLINA STAR settled off of the solid early pace, coaxed three wide to the far turn, swung five wide to upper stretch and lacked the needed late response. STARSHIP NAUTILUS broke outwardly at the start and was off slowly leaving the gate, unhurried along the backstretch, saved ground into the second turn and did not threaten in the stretch. MONEY TRAIL settled off of the early pace, raced widest to the half-mile marker, coaxed two wide into the far turn, made contact with a rival nearing the top of the lane and did not factor in the late stages. HOLA HERMOSA prominent away from the start, stalked the early pace from outside of SONJA HENIE, tracked the solid pace between rivals into the backstretch, could not find the needed response into the second turn, took a bump from MONEY TRAIL into upper stretch and gave way in the stretch drive.
