Footnotes
NESHUME rated nicely off of the early pace, tracked two wide and between runners heading into the turn, angled four wide leaving the quarter marker, rallied into the stretch then vied for the lead into the final sixteenth, dueled the game runner-up to the final strides and determinedly prevailed at the wire. MR. PEEKS settled off of the early pace while never far back, roused three wide to the quarter marker, bid to upper stretch then vied for the lead at the furlong marker, took a narrow lead into the final sixteenth, fought gamely to the wire and just missed for the win, while besting the rest. SWIRVIN prominent in the early stages, disputed the pace three wide heading to the turn, dueled SECRET EMPIRE into the bend, battled that foe to upper stretch then vied for the lead nearing the furlong pole, yielded to the top pair in deep stretch and held for third. BEACH COLT (CHI) hard sent away from the start, pressed the early pace from the inside, lost position into the turn then gave chase into the stretch, could not muster a final response and missed for third. JOEY MUSCLES tracked the early pace from the inside, was caught in tight approaching the turn and shuffled back into the bend, swung out and chased five wide to upper stretch, ran evenly to the furlong marker and flattened out late. SECRET EMPIRE bobbled at the start but recovered quickly and was hustled to dispute the early pace, dueled from the inside into the turn, battled to upper stretch then faded in the final furlong. ACE VENTURA (CHI) settled off of the contested early pace, was outrun into the turn and did not factor in the stretch drive.
