Footnotes
EDIFIED broke slowly and was last from the gate, had just one horse behind as the field turned down the backstretch, made a strong move up the inside going down the backstretch to get to middle of the tracking group, rode the rail through the far turn and into the stretch, tipped out to the two path in mid-stretch, swept past MO SATURDAYS at the sixteenth pole and won clear under a strong hand ride. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT lagged far behind the rest through the early stages, made a sweeping move on the far turn, came six wide into the stretch, rallied under steady handling and got up for second. MO SATURDAYS was hustled forward, went clear through the first turn and opened up a big lead down the backstretch, widened heading into the far turn, came into the stretch with the margin diminishing rapidly, was passed by the top pair inside the sixteenth but held on for third. STORMS LAST got a good break and was forwardly placed going into the first turn, raced at the head of the third group for the run down the backstretch, tried to make a late run with a group of others and finished with some interest but came up short for a minor award. LEAR was up with the pace going into the first turn but backed out to avoid being floated wide, tracked three wide with the main group, launched a bid on the turn and finished up well but too late. CHIVALROUS broke well and set out for the early lead, let MO SATURDAYS get loose on the lead while tracking behind that one and well clear of the rest, made a mild bid from the three furlong pole under strong handling, loomed a threat to mid-stretch but was outfinished. COUSIN LARRY raced in the middle of the tracking group to the far turn, advanced into third on the far turn, loomed a danger at the top of the stretch but was outkicked in the final furlong. BIG BRAVE OKIE tracked the runaway leader along with CHIVLAROUS to the far turn, started to drop back near the three furlong pole and was not a factor in the stretch.
