Footnotes
SECRECY IS EVIL unhurried early but always traveling well, bid four wide near the five-sixteenths pole, loomed in upper stretch, responded when set down and finished strongly under steady handling to prevail. FINE TUNED broke a beat slow but rushed up to contest the early pace, led passing the half then surrendered the lead going into the turn, kept to the inside then re-bid up the rail into the stretch, regained the lead before the eighth pole but was outkicked to the wire by the winner while well clear of the rest of the field. HE'S A STRIKER broke well then stalked the pace from the rail without being asked for speed, steadied in traffic approaching the three furlong pole, dropped back, regrouped, came three wide into the stretch then found renewed energy in the final furlong under urging and rallied into third. CAUSE MIMI SAID broke sharply and dueled with KEYS GOLDEN SONG from the break, was joined at the half-mile marker by by FINE TUNED to the inside then shortly thereafter by I'M ENTICING to the outside, quickened with the latter away from the rest, then weakened in mid-stretch. I'M ENTICING broke well and was forwardly placed from the outset with the rider wary of the loose horse, moved even with the leaders at the half-mile pole then pulled away together with CAUSE MIMI SAID, dueled into the stretch then weakened late. BEEVILLE tracked in the middle of the tracking group, lacked room to make a bid on the turn but was unable to mount a rally once clear. COWBOY CADE lacked speed, chased the main body of the field to the turn, tried to launch a four wide rally but was unable to threaten. KEYS GOLDEN SONG broke in lockstep with CAUSE MIMI SAID and dueled through the initial stages, was prominent to the three furlong marker then stopped, dropped back through the field and had nothing to offer in the stretch. GO GO BOSS reared as the gates opened and lost the rider, was caught by the outrider after the finish and walked off. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START OF THE RACE. AFTER REVIEW THE STEWARDS RULED THAT #9 GO GO BOSS WAS GIVEN A FAIR START, CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEM AND NO CHANGE WAS WARRANTED.
