SPEAK SOFTLY sent to assume early command, set moderate fractions while well handled into the backstretch run, contested the pace while saving ground into the second turn, met the bid of BLING BABY into upper stretch, kept the runner-up at bay into the final sixteenth and held sway late. BLING BABY settled off of the early pace while never far back, was well placed while two to three wide into the backstretch run, bid three wide into the second turn and battled for the lead into the stretch, could not get by the winner in the final furlong and was a clear second best. MIDSHIPMAN'S LADY prompted the early pace from outside of SPEAK SOFTLY, contested moderate fractions through the backstretch run, vied between runners into the second turn, battled into upper stretch then lost position at the furlong marker, weakened in the late stages and was a clear third. GEE SHE'S FANCY allowed to settle early, maintained a two wide path to the second turn, could not muster the needed response in the stretch and passed tiring rivals late. MOLA MIA allowed to settle, saved all of the ground to the second turn and failed to threaten in the stretch. GOD KNOWS WHY forwardly placed leaving the start, tucked in and stalked the early pace to the backstretch, was well placed while saving ground nearing the second turn, chased from the inside approaching the quarter pole, lacked a response into the stretch and tired in the final furlong.
