CHASING LIBERTY prominent early, saved ground to the first turn then assumed command, set moderate fractions while well handled through the backstretch run, set a pressured pace to the quarter marker, battled CURAHEE into the stretch, repelled that rival at the furlong marker then drew away late under hand urging. CURAHEE was forwardly placed while between runners into the first turn, advanced into the backstretch run and prompted the moderate pace outside of CHASING LIBERTY heading to the half-mile, battled into upper stretch, was repelled at the furlong grounds, could not keep pace with the winner into the final sixteenth an was a clear second best. PERRY COUNTY rated off of the early pace while never far back, settled two wide and between rivals into the first turn, tracked three wide into the backstretch run, chased the leading pair two wide nearing the quarter marker, outkicked into the stretch, was no match for the top pair into the final sixteenth and held safely late for the show honors.
