VICTORY FOR VETS bobbled at the start and was a bit slow away from the gate, settled off of the moderate early pace while never far back, chased three to four wide into the turn, loomed five wide at the top of the stretch then vied for the lead nearing the furlong grounds, battled while on the left lead into the final sixteenth, determinedly held off the game runner-up in deep stretch and proved best in the end. TEAM GORMLEY prominent early, stalked the moderate early pace from outside of CHIEF BRADY, chased the pace into the turn, was floated out a bit into upper stretch by the drifting CHIEF BRADY then battled between rivals into the drive, fought gamely into the final sixteenth, was outfinished in deep stretch and was a clear second best. CHIEF BRADY sent leaving the start, showed good speed and set the pace to the turn, carved out moderate fractions nearing the quarter marker, drifted to the three path into upper stretch then battled into the lane, fought on into the final sixteenth, yielded in deep stretch and held safely for the show. BLING MOUNTAIN rated off of the moderate early pace, saved ground into the turn, bid into upper stretch, could not sustain that run into the final sixteenth and flattened out late. CHAMPAGNE STOOPER a step slow away from the start, was allowed to settle in the early running, trailed to the turn, chased two wide to upper stretch and lacked a late response.
