BATTLE STRIKE was not asked for speed from the break, went two to three wide through the initial bend then settled of the pace as the field turned onto the backstretch, steadily advanced through the middle of the race to reach contention by the far turn, launched a three wide bid from the three furlong maker, came four wide into the stretch and produced a steady finish under strong handling to be along in time. I DON'T GET IT got caught four wide into the first turn but was able to track close three wide turning on to the backstretch, made a three wide bid for the lead passing the quarter, and was outside of the three way battle down the stretch, finished well under steady handling but was outfinished by the winner. SARA'S SHAMAN was hustled from the break, then ceded the lead to SHOTSHELL, took up a stalking position and was content to the far turn, went to challenge for the lead passing the quarter pole, battled that stubborn foe into the stretch with I DON'T GET IT also bidding to the outside, edged clear in deep stretch then was outkicked in the final yards. PROVEN HOPE hustled but was unable to contest early, saved the rail and took up a tracking position, tried to rally into the stretch, had some trouble with the lead change, lost a little momentum then finished up with some interest but was too late. SHARP SPARK lagged well behind through the early going, started to move forward after passing the half-mile marker, made a sustained run on the inside and was closing the margin in the late stages. SHOTSHELL got away from the gate quickly, and established the front end through the clubhouse turn, was left alone to dictate the pace and slowed it down through the first half mile, quickened with three furlongs to run and was challenged by SARA'S SHAMAN and I DON'T GET IT at the quarter pole, fought back gamely to deep stretch then gave way. ICEATUDE allowed to settle near the rear early while holding the rail, moved out three wide on the far turn and was unable to improve while under a stiff drive. RED MOUNTAIN was close up to the middle of the backstretch, then started to back up and chased the rest of the way.
