Footnotes
RICH MOUNTAIN was away very quickly from the break, opened up a bit more than a length, responded when set down turning for home and won well under steady handling. BETTER EDGE broke well and chased stablemate RICH MOUNTAIN through the turn, made a mild challenge passing the quarter pole but was no match and followed that one home clear of the third horse. MOST COMPETITIVE was pinched back at he start then was hustled to join the early leaders, stalked from the rail through the turn, then came under right handed urging from the quarter pole and was kept to task through the stretch to gain the third prize while not threat to the top two. HI PLAINS HUNK was crowded after the break when several runners came together, got out of that mess in good order and raced mid-pack down the backstretch four wide, finished with some interest under right handed pressure, mildly gaining, but was not good enough. TRADE TRAVELER got a rough start, first making contact with the inside runner just after the break then got crowded as three horse in the outer stalls converged in front, then was put into an early drive to try and regain contact with the main pack, came four wide into the stretch and finished evenly. C J'S MISCHIEF broke well and was up with the early leaders through the initial stages, came under a little bit of a ride approaching the quarter pole then went one-paced in the stretch. DOC HENRY RIDGE broke out and into the path of MOST COMPETITIVE at the start, steadied and was slow to get back into stride then raced near the rear while under steady handling and struggled to keep up in the stretch. CAPTAIN DAKOTA took the worst of the messy start, dropped far behind early and trailed throughout.
