Footnotes
SOUND OF VICTORY was not asked for speed from the break and went three wide through the first turn settling near the rear of the main pack, responded when asked to go on from the seven-sixteenths pole, circled the field on the far turn came five wide into the stretch and produced a bold rally under intermittent urging and was up in time. ROYALIST settled in a tracking position behind the two pacesetters, was sent after that pair with three furlongs to run, loomed three wide into the stretch, was finishing well under steady handling but was outfinished by the winner in the final yards. ZORRO D' ORO broke sharply and seized the rail and the lead, then dueled with SEVEN TAYLORS through moderate fractions, came under a ride from the five-sixteenths and opened up a bit leaving that rival behind, went clear in upper stretch, was finishing well under steady handling but could not hold the fast closing rival to the outside. SEVEN TAYLORS dueled to the outside of ZORRO D'ORO through the first half mile, amped up the pressure on that on through the far turn, seemingly traveling well, then was unable to go on when that rival quickened away in upper stretch and finished evenly. KING OF THE DISCO tracked in mid-pack through the early stages, saved ground throughout, made a mild bid under a drive from the three-furlong marker but flattened out in the stretch. READY AND ABLE tracked two to three wide behind the pace, stayed wide through the far turn, made brief move but was unable to sustain the bid. KEEP UP THE PACE was outrun from the start and trailed throughout.
