NINTH ISLAND showed good speed from the break and took the lead under a rating hold as the field crossed on to the main course from the chute, was left to dictate reasonable fractions with a rival keeping close attendance, had plenty in reserve when called upon at the top of the stretch and sprinted clear, leaving the rest to battle for the minor awards. TAKE MY PICTURE lagged at the rear through the early stages, made a steady advance down the backstretch, swung three wide into then produced a mild rally to get up for second. UTSIRA unhurried early, steadily advanced three wide down the backstretch, bid three to four wide on the last turn, came three wide into the stretch and was outmnoded for second in a blanket finish. SWEET KARAT CAKE broke in and into the path of CRAFTY AUNT at the start, recovered and got a stalking position for the run down the backstretch, bided time through the far turn then chased the winner home and was outmoded in a blanket finish for the minor awards. RUBY CANTU veered out after the start and made solid contact with LEGACY DEFINED, causing a chain reaction to the adjacent runners, recovered and was forwardly placed through the first half, was boxed in late on the far turn then produced a mild rally under strong handling but came up short. KARA got sandwiched after the break, took up and was last onto the main course, trailed well behind early the advanced closer down the backstretch, tried to rally but had trouble with the lead change in the stretch and flattened out. GOLD MAKIN GIRL veered out at the start, allowed to settle inside, tracked mid-pack to the far turn, was stuck behind horses late on the far turn and into the stretch and lacked the needed response when clear late. CAFEZINHO tracked close up three to four wide for the first half, got stuck behind horses in the stretch but lacked a response once clear. CRAFTY AUNT got off to a troubled start when first bumped by SWEET KARAT CAKE then steadied to avoid the mess on the inside, settled near the rear going down the backside then came up empty in the stretch. LEGACY DEFINED got bumped on both sides at the start, but pulled the rider forward going onto the main track, took up a stalking position down the backstretch, started to weaken passing the quarter pole and tired in the stretch.
