TYPHOON TESSIE broke a step slow then rushed up to vie between horses for the lead the dueled with SPIRIT OF VETERANS through the turn and into upper stretch, got the better of that foe near the furlong grounds, pulled clear and easily held off a late bid from a rival. EXPECT A PATRIOT was allowed to settle from the break and was well behind in the initial stages, steadily advanced down the backstretch and continued to encroach on the leaders late on the turn, stalled out a bit at the top of the stretch but came back on under urging and gained the place, was closing the gap on the winner but ran out of time. SPIRIT OF VETERANS broke in at the start, bothering A THOUSAND SAILS, then vied three wide for the lead, went on with TYPHOON TESSIE, dueled to mid-stretch then weakened. HOLIDAY CRUISE chased from well back to the turn, was kept to task in the stretch and passed tired ones to improve position. KLASSY ROSE CHROME showed good speed from the inside, vied with pair of rivals to the turn then gave way and had nothing to give in the stretch. ANGEL IN THE AIR was unable to keep pace early and was last early, was put into a drive five furlongs out but was unable to muster up anything in the late stages. A THOUSAND SAILS pinched back at the start when SPIRIT OF VETERANS took the path shortly after the start, was with the tracking group but four wide heading into the turn then appeared to lose interest around the five-sixteenths and was galloped out to the wire.
