Footnotes
ANNAMARIA seized the early lead on the first turn then slowed the pace while leading the field to the far turn, had something in reserve and responded when asked to go at the head of the stretch, opened up then held off a pair of challengers while under steady handling and urging. TRIBE was a bit keen and was being steadied through the first turn, settled mid-pack along the rail, launched a bid from the five-sixteenths pole, had a little trouble with the lead change at the top of the stretch then closed on the leading pair once straightened out and just missed. CAPETOWN CANDY stalked the slow pace close to the rail, lost ground when ANNAMARIA slipped away at the top of the stretch but closed the margin when put into a drive and tipped to the two path, was closing the margin approaching the wire but came up short. NOT A WORD was forwardly placed and caught four wide through the first turn, stalked the pace three wide down the backstretch, remained in contention to mid-stretch then flattened out a bit late. TEARDROP TIARA steadied in traffic on the first turn, went out to the three path and continued to track wide down the backstretch, made a mild bid three wide from the quarter pole but went one-paced late and lacked a winning kick. TRIPLE FOUR was unhurried at the back of the field well off the pace, went into a drive from the three-furlong marker, passed a couple of tiring foes but otherwise could not make an impact. DON'T TOUCH raced near the back of the field through the early stages then tired and lacked a rally in the stretch. SINGLE SATURDAY tracked three wide to the far turn, dropped off the pace and came up empty in the stretch.
