Footnotes
BETTER EDGE broke well and made the lead from the outside then held a length lead through the turn, responded when set down at the head of the stretch repelled a trio of pursuers and held clear to the wire in a good effort. REDFORTYSEVEN broke well but did not contest the early pace, advanced three wide through the turn then continued to run on and put in a good finish under strong handling in the stretch, gradually closed ground but was unable to get to the eventual winner and won the tight battle for the second.spot. BAR HOPPIN BILLY came away well and tracked BETTER EDGE three wide into the turn, loomed a big threat from the quarter pole but could not close ground in the late stages and was outfinished. UPTOWN TWOUNDERPAR broke well and settled just behind BETTER EDGE to the turn, kept to the inside and finished with some interest but lacked a winning kick. FIRST CAPE saved ground near the rear of the field, launched a four wide bid on the turn but was unable to threaten. DOC HENRY RIDGE was last away then advanced down the backstretch, came under a ride three furlongs from the finish then swung five wide into the stretch but lacked a winning kick and finished evenly. CONNOR TALKSTRASH broke well and tracked close up to the inside, was stuck behind horses through the turn and into the stretch, tipped out to the three path but lacked a response once clear. HI PLAINS HUNK raced close up between horses to the turn then flattened out when put into a drive at the quarter pole and had nothing to offer in the stretch. COPESTHEBOMB was outrun from the break, saved ground into the stretch and finished one-paced under steady urging. E Z WORDS raced mid-pack three to four wide, started to lose ground after passing the three furlong pole and was unable to keep up late.
