FRANNY was quick to exit the gate but ceded the lead, ranged up three wide at the top of the stretch and finished strong under handling and intermittent urging to win clear. EDGE CHASER took a bump from LOVE ME SOME CANDY at the start but got away well and vied inside, dueled with CHICA COMPETITIVA to the turn then surrendered the lead, dropped well off the pace, then re-rallied in the final furlong to get up for the place. CLARISIT got away well and vied five wide early, dropped down to the two path through the turn, chased CHICA COMPETITIVA into the stretch and put in a good finish under steady handling. R S AMERICAN TIDE broke a step slow then was hard to place early, fell back to last down the backstretch, started a forward move from the half-mile pole, went four wide on the turn then had trouble changing leads in the stretch but still managed to rally and improve in the final furlong. SPIRIT OF VETERANS broke well and was between horses in the early pace battle, dropped back to a tracking position before the turn, then was boxed in late on the turn, got free in the stretch and ran on mildly under urging. LOVE ME SOME CANDY broke in and bumped EDGE CHASER then was slow into stride, rushed up into contention, was close up on the rail, lacked racing room through most of the turn, went one-paced in the stretch and could not threaten. CHICA COMPETITIVA broke outward and bumped with CLARISIT, pushed forward and dueled with EDGE CHASER early, opened up a clear lead through the turn, then shortened strides and gave way in mid-stretch. MAYPEARL raced close up but caught four wide, made a mild bid still wide on the turn then had trouble changing leads in upper stretch and faltered. HOLIDAY CRUISE lacked any early speed, settled back of the pack with R S AMERICAN TIDE, went four wide into the stretch and did not produce a rally. CHECKER'S SONG under a ride from the break but barely able to keep up early, weakened on the turn the was outrun in the stretch. SIMPLY GORGEOUS was outrun from the break but went unhurried and settled near the back, then lost contact on the turn.
