Footnotes
GUITAR BOY settled near the back inside of UNCLE BERLEY, steadily advanced up the backstretch, idled through the far turn having to be coaxed to keep pace, then finished with a strong stretch run to be along in time. CABRO TORO tracked two deep just behind CITY OF LOVE through the first half, made an aggressive move to the front leaving the seven-sixteenths pole then was immediately tackled by MY UNCLE LEON, battled that rival gamely to the finish only to be caught by GUITAR BOY in the last jump. MY UNCLE LEON broke a bit awkwardly then was coaxed three wide through the first turn, took up a stalking position still three wide down the backstretch, moved to challenge CABRO TORO leaving the seven-sixteenths pole, staged a spirited duel with that foe to the wire and then came up on the short end of the three-way photo. UNCLE BERLEY off a step slow, settled off the pace through the first half of the race then launched a mild bid with three furlongs to run, bid three wide into he lane, loomed a threat in upper stretch but flattened out late. PEYTON'S DAY allowed to settled, took an inside path to the far turn while far behind the rest, continued to trail as the field entered the far turn then managed to pass one late. CITY OF LOVE hustled from the gate and seized the lead on the first turn, dictated the pace down the backstretch then had no response when CABRO TORO challenged midway on the turn then had little to offer in the stretch.
