FIRE IN MY SUL broke well, vied two deep in the early pace battle, then dueled with LIGHTNING TWIRL to the turn, edged clear at the three-furlong pole, opened up when set down in upper stretch and went clear and unchallenged to the wire. DEELITESANDIMSUM took a light bump at the start, then held up at the back of the pack, responded when put to urging approaching the five-sixteenths marker, swung four wide into the stretch and finished up well despite racing on the wrong lead to gain the second spot. A THOUSAND ARROWS was three wide in the early pace scramble, came under a drive to try and keep pace with FIRE IN MY SUL, kept on, but was passed for the place while able to save the third prize. RANGO lacked any early speed and settled near the rear, was kept to task late, and passed some tired ones in the stretch. PERICULUM restless in the gate, was a bit slow into stride, advanced on the leading pack down the backstretch, was within striking distance passing the three-furlong pole then flattened out in the late stages. TO THE CHIEF broke slowly then was unable to keep pace with the leading group, tracked from well behind the field, made a mild advance through the turn then tired in the stretch and was not persevered with late. ARKOMA pressed the pace four wide early, backed off near the half, then launched a bid from the seven-sixteenths marker then had nothing left for the stretch run. LIGHTNING TWIRL contested the early pace from the inside, then pulled away with FIRE IN MY SUL into the turn, started to backpedal when that rival shook clear at the three-furlong pole, and was eased up to the finish when hopelessly behind and walked off.
