Footnotes
DRILLING FOR GOLD hopped slightly at the break, was rated off the inside then taken to about the five path soon into the backstretch, dropped in a path and took closer order leaving the far turn, bid to engage GIFT EXCHANGE nearing the quarter pole, dueled with that one in upper stretch, wrested command a furlong out, spurted away under a stiff drive, wandered outward but held firm. MORTAL SIN , under firm rating three wide early on through the backstretch run, advanced outside foes leaving the far turn, shifted out wider into the lane, drifted out pursuing the leading pair in mid stretch, corrected and kept on gamely. BRIGHTY saved ground into the backstretch, edged up nearing the half, eased out to the two path then tapped the brakes into the far turn, regroup to make a four wide run in upper stretch, shifted in a bit past mid stretch and kept on willingly to the inside of a rival to gain the show. GIFT EXCHANGE cleared early, was nursed along on the lead while towards the inner rail, met outer bids leaving the five sixteenths, battled to the inside of the winner leaving mid stretch then gave way grudgingly. FIRE AND KNIVES rated between rivals nearing the five eighths, edged up into the far turn then steadied lightly, swung six wide in upper stretch and closed steadily. LUCKY PRINCE prompted the pace outside the winner, was under pressure attempting to stay close past the five sixteenths, lacked a punch past mid stretch and faded. TABLOID CITY settled off the pace while saving ground, briefly lacked room near the far turn, stayed towards the inside and offered a belated response. MOONFLYER failed to menace. RAPTOR RAZZLE broke through the gate pre race and got away for about a sixteenth of a mile before being apprehended by the outrider, was returned to the gate and broke a tad slow, rated four wide early on, quickly gained and bid between foes leaving the five sixteenths, failed to sustain soon into the stretch and weakened. BURROUGHS CAY stalked the pace three wide, was ridden along past the three eighths and tired. KINDA FONDA WANDA was taken to the inner rail in the opening sixteenth, settled off the pace but failed to generate a serious rally. GOLD ASPEN secured the inside early on and stalked, failed to respond to asking leaving the far turn and retreated.
