Footnotes
IT'S A RAINY DAY broke alertly, with the pace closest to the in side, disposed of the other speed turning for home, maintained a comfortable advantage to the wire under steady hanlding. CHANCES TAKEN back off the early pace, angled out four wide turning for home, rallied down the middle of the strip to be clear for the place, not a serious threat to the winner. RERUN forwardly placed after the start, shuffled back from between foes three wide into the turn, traffic then waited through much of upper stretch, clear for the final furlong, up for the show. PREACHER'S KID back off the pace and the inside, four wide through the turn, went evenly through the stretch, lacked a closing punch. AFFIXED in mid pack early while inside, improved along the rail late in the turn, also went flat through the lane to lose some position. CHEROKEE WILL off a step slow, raced back and outside, three wide through the turn, improved slightly down the stretch while not a major factor. SOUTHFORK set or forced the pace while widest of the first flight up the backstretch, faltered while three wide in some traffic exiting the turn. YEAGERS STRATEGY broke a step slow and saved ground to no avail. STAUF finished early and remained back. JIMMY with the pace for a half while between rivals, gave way through the stretch.
