TRIDENT HIT broke alertly, four wide into the first turn when settling off the pace, angled in through that turn to race in the two path onto the backstretch, crept a bit closer two to three wide through the final turn, shifted out widest when straightened for home, challenged the first flight from the outside past the furlong marker and kicked clear under steady handling. HERN within striking distance off the inside, advanced and challenged three wide through the second turn, vied into the lane, lugged in a furlong out to bother LUCENCY, was straightened, proved no match for the winner late while holding sway for the place. AMERICAN LAW angled in to save some ground when off the pace into the first turn, continued inside, boxed in behind the tiring pacesetter late in the final bend, split foes midstretch then finished up mildly to be up for the show late. LUCENCY chased the leader while three wide early, challenged between rivals and inside the runner up through the final bend, vied into the lane and upper stretch, floated in with a furlong to run, weakened slightly, nipped late for the show. COINAGE took control into the first turn, appeared to try and get out late in that bend, showed the way up the backstretch, vied through the final turn closest to the rail, gave way when headed entering the stretch. BACKGROUND hesitated at the start to be away slowly, trailed just off the inside, was never a threat. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY REGARDING THE RUN THROUGH MIDSTRETCH, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
