PAYNE off a step slow, trailed early, angled out four wide when advancing out of the turn, finished with good energy to win going away while well out in the strip. TOP GUN TOMMY pressed the early leader from the outside, took over from that one entering the stretch, showed the way past the furlong marker, proved no match for the winner late, fully extended to preserve the place. LIGHTNING STRUCK in the second flight off the inside, three wide turning for home, set down, getting to the runner up late, clear of the others. WIND OF CHANGE (BRZ) broke back, lacked speed for a half, moved off the inside turning into the stretch, found best stride too late in improving positiion. I'M NO JOKE away in good order, set a pressured pace for a half, began to gradually weaken when headed by the runner up entering the stretch. VALE one paced in the second group while between horses, lacked a closing kick. BLAME J D failed to menace while four to five wide turn. CIRCLE BACK JACK remained back in failing to menace. AMERICAN OUTLAW in the second flight along the inside, asked along late in the turn, gave way.
