PALM TREE in the second flight inside, snug hold in some traffic late backstretch, knifed three wide and between horses late in the final turn, three wide bid into the stretch, drew clear under steady handling. LEAR broke alertly, set or forced the pace along the inside, continued to vie into the lane, gave ground grudgingly to the winner, proved stubborn for the place. SPECIAL DISPATCH dueled up front off the inside, held a narrow advantage after a half, vied between horses into the stretch, weakened from between the top two through the lane. MENDELSSOHNS MARCH fell back to trail after the start, saved ground into the far turn, improved position while not a serious threat to the top three. MAXIMUS MAGIC last away, void of speed, four to five wide through the second turn, went evenly through the lane out in the middle of the strip. NULLIFY went one paced throughout while racing off the inside. NEON NIGHTS broke back, made an early move four wide onto the backstretch, stalled late backstretch, rebid four wide far turn, weakened steadily through the lane. THE THUNDERER forwardly placed while three to four wide, stopped after a half, far back, jogged in.
