BASEBALL POLITICS broke on top, showed the way up the backstretch toward the inside, shook clear and came in the two path for the drive, maintained a daylight advantage to the wire under steady handling. MEAN JAKEY prompted the winner from the outside, fell back off that one turning for home, slowly closing the gap on that same rival late, clearly second best. HUSKER BUTCH back off the pace outside, four wide exiting the turn, staged a mild rally to annex the show, not a threat to the top two. PERMAFROST forwardly placed while widest of the first flight, five wide turning into the stretch, lacked a closing kick. DANCE MAN prompted the issue up front three to four wide and between horses through the bend, also came up empty when the real running began at the head of the lane. MAGIA NERA off a step slow, lagged well back for a half, swung out four wide when beginning to advance, improved through the lane while too late. TIM TAL five wide into the turn, raced three wide exiting, weakened in the run to the wire. TIE BREAKER lacked speed, came five wide into the stretch, failed to muster a rally. J J'S RANGER made little impact while racing off the inside. WET AND WILD staged a steady retreat while racing in the two path. TRIKITRAKI broke back and was never a factor.
