Footnotes
CULLEN J broke in and bothered a rival at the start, stalked from inside, put in a rail bid at the top of the lane, put a nose in front of HOTHEAD past the eighth pole and outdueled that rival to the wire. HOTHEAD vied between rivals then took full control and set the pace up the backstretch, led along the rail then two wide leaving bend, met challenges from both sides at the top of the lane, battled outside CULLEN J through the final furlong and came just short in the end. MILES FINCH broke well then ceded command to HOTHEAD, stalked two wide to the turn, took aim three wide into the lane, challenged three deep at the top of the stretch but was no match for the top pair in the late stages. GOT SOUL traveled two wide just out of range early, tipped out into the lane and lacked a bid. BENNY'S PUZZLE laid well off the pace in the opening stages, hugged the rail to the stretch and improved position. MASTER JACQUES got forced in leaving the gate, drifted out a bit early, angled in and settled inside, ridden along through the turn, asked right handed exiting the bend, moved off the fence and weakened. JAMES J. BRADDOCK hit the gate to lose a step, stalked three deep, stayed off the rail to the stretch and weakened. GLASS OF JAMESON tracked three deep into the turn, moved into the two path around the bend, steadied when running up behind a rival and altered out into the stretch but proved no menace. DAWKINS off slow from inside, lagged far behind and never got involved.
