LADY MENDELSSOHN bobbled slightly leaving the gate but still came away well, was closest in pursuit from inside to the far turn, chased in the two path for a bit before returning to the inside and was asked left handed leaving the far turn, tipped out at the top of the lane, drew alongside SASAFRAN with a sixteenth remaining, wore down that rival to take over and held over the late run from ORANGE THUNDER in the closing moments. ORANGE THUNDER sat well off the pace in the two path, moved into third on the far turn, chased along the rail with a quarter mile remaining, moved out and rallied under left handed urging but ran out of time. SASAFRAN grabbed the early lead and showed the way along the rail, set all the pace to the stretch, led clear into the final furlong, pressured by LADY MENDELSSOHN in deep stretch and yielded grudgingly. CO HEART sat off the pace along the two path then found the rail, saved ground through the far turn, moved out in the lane and failed to threaten. Z'S WARDROBE steadied behind a rival on the first turn, trailed to the second bend, cut the corner into the lane and was never a factor. RENATUS unhurried in the beginning, traveled two wide then along the fence on the clubhouse turn, moved out and chased three deep around the second bend, then lacked a rally when needed. HEARTS FANTASY moved inside and dropped well off the pace, continued on the fence to the stretch, tipped out at the top of the lane, lacked room behind CO HEART at the eighth pole and could not rally once in the clear. MRAZEK'S OLD DREAM raced outside a rival approaching the first turn then shifted out around a rival early on the bend, went three wide into the backstretch, rounded the far turn in the two path and could not make an impact.
