Footnotes
KATONAH brushed with EXPRESS TRAIN leaving the gate, tucked inside at the back, altered a bit to avoid fallen rival at the three-eighths pole, split foes shortly after, driven two wide into the stretch, angled out at the top of the lane, bid four deep with a furlong remaining, took over at the sixteenth pole and drove clear. EXPRESS TRAIN brushed start, stalked three then four wide early, stayed off the rail up the backstretch, bid four deep with three furlongs remaining, took a narrow lead three deep around the bend, battled with rivals on both sides past the eighth pole and got outkicked by KATONAH in deep stretch. TARANTINO vied for the lead inside a pair of rivals, battled gamely to the sixteenth pole, then weakened a bit late and manage to edge IMAGINATION for the show honors. IMAGINATION challenged for command three deep, carried a narrow lead into the far turn, fought between rivals on the far turn while losing the advantage to EXPRESS TRAIN, dug in between rivals down the stretch but weakened past the sixteenth pole. AMERICAN ADMIRAL coaxed from the gate but got crowded between rivals shortly after the start, chased from off the pace in the two path, moved into striking distance on the backstretch, saved ground along the rail then angled out leaving the far turn and weakened. MIDNIGHT MAMMOTH vied for the lead between rivals, faded on the far turn, trailed five wide into the lane and had little left for the stretch run. DONT FIGHT THE FED tracked four then three wide around the clubhouse turn, drew closer in tandem with AMERICAN ADMIRAL in the middle stages, sustained an injury and fell at the three-eighths pole and was transported off the track via equine ambulance.
