Footnotes
CROWN MAGIC stalked from inside then went outside a rival on the backstretch, had to pause when lacking room at the three-eighths pole in the two path, angled to the rail then tipped two wide leaving the bend, challenged from outside at the top of the lane, took over outside the eighth pole, put away inner rival in midstretch but still had to contend with VERITAS AEQUITAS to the outside, dug in late and gamely prevailed. VERITAS AEQUITAS settled in the two path, picked up stride on the backstretch, waited in the three path behind a wall of rivals on the far turn, swung six wide past the quarter pole, closed in and collared CROWN MAGIC midstretch but lacked the needed final kick to get by. HAPPY DOES vied for the lead from inside, chased the top trio under coaxing up the backstretch, launched a rail bid at the three-eighths pole, took over and cleared around the bend, challenged by CROWN MAGIC at the top of the lane, lost command entering the final furlong, yielded in midstretch and churned on for the show honors. QUALITY CAT vied for the lead four deep in the five path on the first turn, fought three deep up the backstretch, battled four deep at the three-eighths pole, could not keep up with the new leader nearing the quarter pole and weakened down the lane. RICH GOLD vied three deep while four wide early, between rivals in the middle stages, fought in the three path to the five-sixteenths pole, then chased after the new leader late on the bend and also weakened. MOUNT PELLIAR moved inside trailing early, went two wide into the far turn then found the rail again and passed a tired rival. UPSTART YANKEE vied for the lead two wide then inside rivals on the backstretch, carried a short lead to the three-eighths pole, lost command at the five-sixteenths pole, chased the new leader into the lane and tired.
