VENGANZA sat off the pace in the early stages, went two wide into the turn then moved inside, closed in upper stretch, rallied between at the eighth pole, surged clear midstretch and held MISS ROBERTS (GB) at bay. MISS ROBERTS (GB) broke slow, moved inside and saved ground racing toward the back, tipped two wide at the quarter pole, angled out across the dirt, moved inward at the top of the lane, gained quickly but lacked room into the final furlong, then gained a clear path and finished gamely but had to settle for second best. NOT A SINNER (GB) reserved in the early going, traveled two wide then along the rail on the turn, angled six wide across the dirt and rallied to get up for third. WORD PLAY (GB) stalked the lone leader from inside into the turn, tipped two wide leaving the bend, moved out in upper stretch, challenged into the final furlong but was no match for the top pair in deep stretch and lost third. RUNAMILEINMYSHOES stalked the pacesetter outside a rival, moved into the three path around the bend, bid from outside across the dirt, took over in upper stretch, lost command midstretch and weakened in the last sixteenth. CORNELIA FORT chased under coaxing out of range on the inside into the turn, moved to the two then three path late on the bend and failed to respond when called upon. LOVIN' ON THE RUN traveled in mid-pack in the four path into the turn, got floated seven wide crossing surfaces and could not rally. MISS MONARCH BAY tracked outside a rival then three deep into the turn, chased five wide into the lane and weakened. SEPTEMBER MAGIC tracked two wide between rivals into the turn, spun four wide into the lane and weakened. DULY NOTED broke a step slow and had her path taken at the start, trailed to the turn, had one rival beat entering the lane and was never a factor. MYSTICISM sped clear and crossed over, showed the way along the inside through the turn, challenged crossing the dirt, yielded in upper stretch and gave way. GREAT FORTY EIGHT saved ground well off the pace and never got involved.
