Footnotes
ROMAN GRATIS broke out and bumped OUTWORKER hard at the start, sped to the front and showed the way inside CHASING RYTER early, cleared that rival into the turn, spurted away under right handed asking in upper stretch and held safely over the late run from the runner-up. BERLIN WALL off slow to begin, climbed early and was coaxed along off the rail, lacked room in traffic from the five-sixteenths pole to the quarter pole, bumped chasing between rivals at the top of the lane, then finished full of run but could not reach the winner. OUTWORKER got bumped hard by ROMAN GRATIS at the start and almost unseated Antonio Fresu, lagged behind up the backstretch, trailed two wide into the turn, passed a rival at the quarter pole, came three wide into the lane, rallied down the lane and gained third. LETMEIN raced in range four then three wide, lacked a bid in the stretch and got edged for third. FALCON WINGS chased two wide from off the pace around the turn, tipped out in the drive and failed to menace. GREY AREA raced well off the pace along the inside into the turn, drifted out a bit on the bend, chased two wide into the drive and had little left for the stretch run. CHASING RYTER pressed the pace from outside, chased two wide around the bend and faded. THREE WIRE stalked from inside, hugged the rail to the stretch, got bumped and checked at the three-sixteenths pole and was not persevered with in the furlong grounds. THERE WERE A PAIR OF STEWARDS' INQUIRIES. THE FIRST INVOLVED ROMAN GRATIS AND OUTWORKER AT THE START AND THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT ROMAN GRATIS BE DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST TO THIRD FOR BREAKING OUT AND MAKING HARD CONTACT WITH OUTWORK, COSTING THAT RIVAL A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING. THE SECOND INQUIRY INVOLVED BERLIN WALL, CHASING RYTER AND THREE WIRE AT THE TOP OF THE LANE AND RULED THAT THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION.
