ABADON pressed from outside then between rivals, vied between into and around the far turn, drifted into the stretch and lost contact with the leader briefly, came back and took over at the eighth pole and drove clear in deep stretch. CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN tracked three then four wide around the first turn, dropped off the pace on the backstretch, ridden along three then two wide on the far turn, rallied down the lane but lacked the needed late punch to get by the winner. HOT JOURNEY fought for the lead from inside then took control around the clubhouse turn, showed the way under pressure then vied with outer rivals up the backstretch, held a short lead along the rail through the far turn, cleared briefly at the top of the lane, then was overtaken by ABADON at the eighth pole and weakened in deep stretch. LORD WIMBORNE (IRE) stalked from inside then ran up on heels into the backstretch, moved out and bid four then three deep in the middle stages, fought three deep through the far turn, drifted out past the quarter pole, lugged out in the lane and missed third. BESKAR trailed four then three wide early, had one rival beat along the fence into the far turn, angled four wide around the bend, moved out further in the stretch and improved position. WILD WAGER settled four to five wide early, stayed off the rail to the far turn, came four wide into the lane and passed tired rivals. SUGAR BEETS traveled five then six wide near the back on the clubhouse turn, drew closer still wide in the middle stages, chased four then five wide on the second bend and flattened out. STAY LIT reserved three then two wide, lacked room along the rail at the seven-sixteenths pole, tipped to the two path and failed to menace. MIDNIGHT METAL stalked two then three wide, pressed between rivals early on the backstretch, could not keep up approaching the half-mile pole, dropped back on the inside around the far turn and tired.
