Footnotes
TENMA dueled outside JUST AS FANCY for command, put a head in front at the five-sixteenths pole, disposed of inner rival with a quarter mile remaining, led two wide into the lane and widened under hand urging. CIPRIANI lagged behind early while angling from the three path to the rail, crept closer up the backstretch, moved into striking distance along the inside on the far turn before tipping two wide at the quarter pole, asked left then right handed in the lane but could not make any headway on the winner. JUST AS FANCY fought head to head inside TENMA to the far turn holding slim advantage, lost command midway around the far turn, yielded to the winner approaching the quarter pole, began to tire in upper stretch and was eased in the final furlong.
