BILLY JOE SHAVER raced up close from outside, went five wide into the turn, bid three deep around the bend, cleared inner pair at the quarter pole and crossed over, met the bid from SPIRITIST in upper stretch and drew away in the furlong grounds. SPIRITIST showed early speed between rivals then chased off the rail, followed the leaders three wide around the bend, bid outside BILLY JOE SHAVER in upper stretch but was turned away. BIG SPLASH tracked off the rail, fell out of range while angling out on the turn, spun five wide into the drive and was along for the show honors. MENDELSSOHNS MUSIC trailed along the inside into the turn, angled four wide around the bend, earned a minor award but failed to threaten. HERMELINDA'S FANCY vied for the lead from inside then chased up the backstretch, raced two wide on the bend, lost ground behind rivals through the turn, tipped three wide into the lane and lacked a rally.
