CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN crowded shortly after the start, traveled four wide around the first turn, gained five deep on the backstretch, challenged three deep on the far turn, took over with a quarter mile remaining, cleared into the stretch and drew off. RIGHT HAND RYDER raced up close four then three deep, moved up on even terms on the backstretch, took over briefly between rivals the five-sixteenths pole, lost command at the quarter pole, yielded to the winner entering the lane and churned on to retain second. ABADON antsy in the gate, away quickly to take an early lead, fought three then two wide around the first turn, inched ahead on the backstretch then dueled again at the halfway mark, fought inside a pair of rivals and relinquished the lead on the far turn, could not kick on with the winner entering the lane and flattened to third. SUPERMAZEL tracked four wide early, continued four deep into the second bend, spun five wide into the lane and failed to threaten. FANTASTIC DREAM pulled briefly early on the first turn and dropped back to last, traveled along the rail then in the two path on the far turn, altered three wide around a pair of rivals entering the lane and showed a mild response to improve position. WILD WAGER chased three wide around both turns and weakened down the lane. RULER OF ANGELS settled on the inside then moved into the two path, got shuffled back on the far turn, lacked room and checked in upper stretch and could not be a factor after. MIDNIGHT METAL showed early speed in the two path into the first turn, bumped with inner rival at the seven-eighths pole, continued to challenge for command around the bend, could not keep up with the top pair at the half-mile marker, stayed in range to the five-sixteenths pole, then faded out of contention. HOT JOURNEY showed early speed along the rail inside rivals, bumped with MIDNIGHT METAL and checked at the seven-eighths pole, stalked off the rail on the backstretch, asked right handed in the two path on the far turn and tired.
