Footnotes
WOUND UP away quickly, jump the track early then was overtaken by DUTY FIRST, switched off the rail to stalk leader, challenged from outside on the turn, took over midway around the bend, cleared at the quarter pole, drew off under a tap of a right handed crop and steady handling into the final sixteenth and coasted in late. CLAMPETT stalked the pace from inside, moved into the two path around the bend, chased within striking distance into the final furlong but was no match for the winner in the furlong grounds. LEYAS CANDY stalked the top pair outside CLAMPETT, traveled three wide around the bend, weakened in the lane but was able to hold third. DUTY FIRST sent for the lead and cleared WOUND UP from outside, crossed over to the rail, overtaken by that rival midway around the bend, yielded at the quarter pole and folded in the stretch. KAHUNA MAGIC lacked early speed, trailed along the inside through the turn and was never a factor. THE KEY IS UNITY chased from off the pace, went two then three wide around the bend and weakened.
